Holiday Highlights

1. Our family ugly sweater party. I would just like to apologize to the whole world on behalf of my Mother. for anyone who went to an ugly sweater party this season and couldn't find a sweater truly hideous enough to win an award, its her fault. My mother is an ugly sweater hoarder

Exhibit A:

Do you see this thing? Its 3D! She has an entire cedar chest full of other delightful editions, some of which are pictured below.

2. Christmas Eve. We went to my Grandparents house in Austin for Christmas which just happens to be my favorite place in all of Texas. I was so happy to finally show Evan that Texas isn't all completely flat!

We have been having the same Christmas Eve party ever since I can remember. We have a big fancy dinner and then there is a kids program which is always very entertaining, this year Tanner and William did a recap of everyone's important events this year, Sports Center style (they named it Santa Center... so clever). Then we sing songs and Santa comes and brings everyone matching pjs and we read the Christmas story.

Now of course its not the real Santa. It is whichever of the male cousins has the misfortune of being oldest and single. Thanks Will! Everyone has to go and sit on Santa's lap. Everyone. Moms, dads, grandmas, kids, grandads. But see, no one told Cheyenne about this tradition. And Santa happened to pull her present out of the bag first. We were completely entertained watching her awkwardly squirm on her brother-in-law's lap. Sorry Chey!

We had a ball staying with these two couples at Matthew and Alex's beautiful new house. Love yall!

3. Christmas Day Evan thought it was hilarious that the kids were all locked upstairs behind a baby gate the next morning when we arrived to see what Santa brought us. The best part was all the little ones pressed up against the gate trying to break it down with 21 year old William and 17 year old Tanner behind all of them with the biggest scowls you will ever see.
Looking lovely Christmas morning for church... and ready to open presents!

Evan got a new truck!
My mom's quilt

And the exhausted aftermath (I'm inside that blanket on the chair incase you can't tell)

4. Reception #2 We had an open house at Ollenjack's for Zander and Rebeca, it was so fun to see so many old friends!

Oh these two :)
We hope you had a very Merry Christmas and wish you the happiest new year!! Expecting good things in 2012!
