Mother's Day
"To My Child" by Anne Campbell
You are the trip I did not take;
You are the pearls I could not buy;
You are my blue Italian lake;
You are my piece of foreign sky.
You are my Honolulu moon;
You are the book I did not write;
You are my heart's unuttered tune;
You are a candle in my night.
You are the flower beneath the snow,
In my dark sky a bit of blue,
Answering Disappointment's blow
With "I am happy! I have you!"

There is a Primary song the kids often sing in Sacrament meeting on Mother's Day about gathering blue flowers for their Moms. Evan and Winston gave me the sweetest early Mother's Day present last Sunday taking me on a hike to a forest full of gorgeous blue wild flowers! Winston was talking and laughing the whole hike in and promptly passed out when it was time for pictures, of course. I found the poem above on a friends blog several months ago and kept thinking about it as Mother's day approached. It's so true. In my little family, I have the entire world. They joy they bring me is literally indescribable.

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!! Happiest first REAL Mother's day! I think your absolutely ROCK at being a mother and although you are talented enough to take on the entire world; I still think you're better at being a mother. :) Love you and that sleeping baby boy.
