Mother's Day Weekend

Oh how I cherish these people who made me "mom"! About a month ago my scripture study turned to "motherhood" {as it does ever so often these days} and I stumbled across an article by President Monson entitled Behold Thy Mother. This beautiful quote struck me:

"May each of us treasure this truth; one cannot forget mother and remember God. One cannot remember mother and forget God. Why? Because these two sacred persons, God and mother, partners in creation, in love, in sacrifice, in service, are as one."

Evan's Grandmother turned 90 this March and the Fox family was hosting a huge party to celebrate her life over mother's day weekend. We really wanted to be there but we were dragging our feet because it's particularly difficult for Evan to get vacation days approved during the school year and also because spending 20 hours in the car with an 8 month old and a 2 year old is not high on my list of "Splendid Ways to Spend a Weekend." After reading President Monson's words though, I immediately texted Evan and knew we needed to make the effort to honor Madolyn Joyce and what an amazing mother she has been to this whole family! Even though it was much too quick of a turn around, it was worth every second of joy {and every hour Winston screamed in the car too}!

She is one amazing lady, she raised seven boys. SEVEN! It's pretty striking to see what has come to be because of her, and how many lives she has touched and what a force for good she has been through being a mother.

I mean all these people because of her! Her posterity seriously is awe-inspiring.

All the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren singing "Families can be Together Forever" to sweet Grandma.

This is my favorite place to be with the Fox family, listening to Rich play the guitar. He sang his mother the most beautiful Garth Brooks song "Mom" {scroll down to watch}

Lucky, lucky me to be a part of this group!
