BYU in Review
Thursday marks the end of my college career. THE END. And if any of you have seen that Gilmore Girls episode where Rory dyes her hair pink and has a breakdown her senior year because she has no idea what she's doing next with her life, I'd have to say that's an accurate portrayal of some of my days over this last semester. It's exciting and terrifying all at the same time. Perhaps I was a naive 18 year old girl when I started this whole experience, but I came in thinking that by the time I graduated from college I would be a real, capable, functioning adult with a career and my whole life figured out. Four and a half years later... I still have no idea what that even means. However, I have loved the journey and learned so much along the way. So here's to...
My first date with Evan and our wedding day
My firsts.
My first speeding ticket, 45 in a 35 on a campus road. Oops.
My first B. Social and Cultural Anthropology 101. After which I promptly chose a science major.
My first roommate and learning to share a room, Stephanie Conrad you are an angel.
My first love, rest in peace letters to a missionary.
My first rejection letter, the first of many times the Nursing program has humbled me.
My first camping trip and hot dog all in one night! Now its a lifestyle...well the camping part at least.
My first apartment, Liberty Square and all that came with it!
My first real road trip, Tayler Sefcik and Newport Beach had stolen my heart.
Here's to:
Staying in shape.
Staying in shape.
I learned how to play tennis,
I learned how to snowboard,
I learned to mountain bike,
I did an Olympic triathalon,
ran a half marathon,
and most recently learned the ropes on the racquetball court.
Who knew a high school cheerleader could do all that??
Here's to:
Things I'd love to relive:
The day I got in to the nursing programMy first date with Evan and our wedding day
And Here's to:
Things I wouldn't
My bio organic chemistry final
My first patient death
DTR's times a million
My apartment disaster
Here's to:
The Things I'm still laughing about:
The date uniform: mom shorts + asics + ponytail= no callback
Turbo jamming with roommates
Getting the same subway six inch as Kirsten EVERY DAY and not
realizing it until our senior year.
Being in the "Wive's Club" on intramural sidelines
Learning how to live with a boy
And pretty much every night of my life in The Blue Rose.
Here's to:
The things I knew before:
I'd never write a missionary
I'd never get married before I turned 25
I was going to be an international business woman
I would always end up in Texas
I knew all the answers and had everything planned
and probably most importantly, here's to
The things I know now:
"I'll never..." has been removed from my vocabulary.
I don't know any of the answers.
I do however know where to find them... on my knees or in the scriptures. Or on Google.
Plans are made to be changed. And if that frustrates you, stop making them.
Love.
Enjoy the journey.
And lastly:
Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.
Mosiah 4:9
There have been so very many wonderful people and places and times over the past four and a half years I couldn't dream of covering it all! Leave me a comment with your favorite memory if I haven't mentioned it already. And now....
Here's to a New Chapter!
Ready...... Set..... Begin.
Hopefully I'll feel this way in 3 years...and be as wise :) Love you and so excited that you're finally done! I know you will find a way to love whatever ends up happening, I'm just hoping I can love it with you in Provo!!
ReplyDeleteThis is the best post I have ever read and I may need to copy it for my rememberance (if that's a word) of college as well. There are so many sweet pictures that hold so many memories in this post and it is sweet! Congrats on making it and don't worry about the rest because you're in good hands! LOVE YOU!
ReplyDeletethis post may or may not have made me tear up a little! I can't believe it's all ending. this week. What am I going to do when I no longer see you on a regular basis? probably die. One of my my favorite memories was our trip to St. George for the Huntsman Senior Games. oh, and our first semester when you dropped chocolate in your chair and it melted all over the back of your white pants. hahaha
ReplyDeleteIf you only knew how much I look forward to your weekly blog posts. Somehow there is always something I can relate to, even though we're at really different points in our lives (except for that I'm done with classes this week as well and I'm freaking out because I don't know what to do!!). I don't really have a memory to share, but I just wanted to say thank you!
ReplyDeleteAlso, the Blue Rose?! I live in the Treehouse this year, just like two houses down!
love love love this post! I'm so happy that someone is at least finally graduating *ahem ahem, not me* and I couldn't be happier for you! I can't wait to see what God has in store for you and Evan!!
ReplyDeleteI love this. What a fun way to relive all those happyawkwardawesomehorriblefulfilling memories! haha And I loved this: "I do however know where to find them... on my knees or in the scriptures. Or on Google" :)
ReplyDeleteOne more thing...sorry! haha But that scripture has been a favorite for years. Such a good one.
