We got a tragic phone call one night in February from Heather informing us that Evan's college roommate had been killed in an avalanche while skiing in Wyoming. It was completely shocking and I couldn't wrap my mind around it for days. Alex was from Cleveland Ohio and all of Evan's other roommates came out for the funeral. It was so good for them to be together to mourn, to process, and to celebrate their memories together. At first the news articles and reports made the events of Alex's death seem frustrating, but as we started to hear about the miracles his family experienced and about the things Alex was doing in his personal life just prior to his death, we knew God had called him home and felt peace. He was an incredible friend and a true follower of Christ. He is buried in the shadow of the Kirtland Temple and we look forward to meeting him again.
